Your tree, your piece

Have a tree that came down? I can mill, dry, and turn it into something you keep — the wood remembers where it grew.

How a commission comes together.

§ 02 — The process
i.

The conversation

It starts with an email — a photo of the room, a rough size, the story of what the piece is for. I'll reply with questions, ideas, wood suggestions, and an honest price range.

ii.

Wood & design

We choose the species and, where it matters, the actual boards. I confirm dimensions and joinery, then build — from log or dried stock, by the same pair of hands start to finish.

iii.

Finish & delivery

Hand-finished in oil and wax, then delivered locally in central Ohio or shipped nationwide. Every Redbarn piece is repaired for the life of the maker.

What a commission costs.

§ 03 — Pricing & lead time

Every piece is quoted individually after we talk, but here's a rough guide so there are no surprises:

  • Turned bowls — roughly $60–$150, depending on size, species, and character.
  • Pens, stoppers & small items — typically $30–$120.
  • Side tables & consoles — usually $600–$2,000.
  • Dining & kitchen tables — generally $1,800–$4,500, by size and joinery.

Lead time: furniture from dried stock usually takes two to four months. Turned pieces starting from freshly felled wood can take 12 to 18 months, because the wood has to air-dry between rough and finish turning. I'll give you an honest timeline before we start.

§ 04 — Start a commission

Tell me about the tree,
or the room it's headed for.

Most commissions begin with a single email — a photo of a room, a rough dimension, a story about someone the piece is for. There's no obligation, and no form required.
